Primary Filters
Nationwide offers a range of primary filters with different construction depending on where they are to operate. A major development has been to introduce a more environmentally-friendly pre-filter panel - the Pure-Pleat Panel - constructed using a self-supporting fibre to remove the need for a wire-mesh support, thereby making it more cost-effective and totally incinerable. Or, replacing panel filters in their entirety with pad holding frames and replacable pads to reduce long-term costs as well as providing additional health and safety benefits.
PRIMARY FILTERS: Function
As the term suggests a primary filter – pre-filter - provides the initial filtration stage within an air supply system. Their function is to remove medium to large particles from the air entering the system. A primary grade filter provides protection for other air supply components (e.g. heater batteries, silencers etc) to prevent clogging and premature ageing/replacement. By removal of medium to large particles, a primary filter also extends the installed life of a more expensive higher-grade secondary air filter.
PRIMARY FILTERS: Selection & Operation
Selection is often a case of common sense, particularly where filters for fan coil units or grease filters are required. Deciding whether to opt for a glass fibre filter, pleated panel filter, or pad with pad holding frames can be more problematic. Price may be a consideration, but so are other factors.
